    Vanessa Oshima is a NZ native based in Tokyo and the co-founder of outruncancer - an initiative to raise awareness and funds for cancer communities. She has been running everyday since 2012 to support her friend Caroline's journey with cancer. In 2017, Vanessa also had a cancer diagnosis and Caroline started running for her. In 2022 to mark the 10 year milestone of running everyday she started the outruncancer podcast. She has presented at TED x HANEDA on the life learning from running.

    Vanessa is an insights based marketer and has worked for some of the most recogniseable global brands. She believes in the power of brands and story to connect people to messges and each other.

    Nico Bouthors is a creative mind based in Shanghai (China) coming from Cergy (France). While running one of the city's key printshop, he's handprinted tees & hoodies for just about anyone in town. Giving birth to lively and warm illustrations to clients, to friends and to his own merch is one of the highlights of this job, and creating for a cause/charity each year is now an old habit that led to his first illustrated book "the Bucket". This book, based on Vanessa Oshima's years of learnings from running against cancer, encompasses so much of what creating with a purpose can mean.

    As a mum of two girls, I've read many a bedtime story. This book was one I looked forward to reading and discussing with my oldest. There were so many opportunities to talk about her sense of self, what she likes and not like, how to talk about her wants and needs and play with others.     This is a beautifully written story by a woman who has through her own experiences learnt the power of authenticity. Finding our own light in this world and being able to love oneself for who we truly are.
