Completely stable and strong signal at 2402Mbps on the ax160MHz channels. Not sure of the range yet since my AX58BT adapter antenna is very close by the router at present. Recommended that you get an AX adapter if this is paired with your PC since there may be compatibility issues between particular AX routers and AC adapters, although the router can be set to transmit AC as well. Be sure to update to the latest firmware for the router and the driver for the adapter in any case.

This build may not be quite as robust as I first expected, but it still does have a quite solid construction and plenty of ventilation to dissipate heat. It's very light and doesn't have a particularly large footprint so suited to desktop or a handy shelf. The socalled gaming LAN port isn't anything that standard QoS doesn't provide for; it's just made outstanding among the "special" features supposedly for marketing to gamers. In fact, changing one means the effect is established on the other setting, albeit with less means of control. It appears that this model has a very similar configuaration to both the ASUS AX3000 and the RT-58U. If you're not an enthusiast, and extral geeky at that, it's unlikely you'll be able to tell the differences, if any. Basic and fundamental parameters are very closely aligned if not identical. I believe there may be some differences among chips serving the 2.4G radio among other things.

There is a host of additional features available though if you like to play around with settings. Upgraded to the latest ASUS firmware which provided some extra features such as "profiles" that allow you to set up the router to connect directly to your NBN HFC (fibre) port (there is no need for an integrated modem with NBN). That relieves the need to set up a VLAN ID value which may not be known, and is often hidden among the many settings within ASUS and like branded routers.

Although this model does not yet have a Merlin-WRT firmware release, that seems to be in the pipeline to be delivered shortly, speaking in August 2022. I recommend upgrading to that firmware as soon as it becomes available since it will add layers to the kinds of manipulaions that can be performed on ASUS routers. Some of them are actually immediately useful or will serve to future-proof your network!

Something of note though. Along the bottom of the array of LAN/WAN ports there is a narrow ridge which appears to be giving structural strength to the router body. However, since this ridge is very close to the bottom of the WAN port, for one, it becomes difficult to remove an ethernet cable to the point that it seems to be firmly stuck. I'm using recently purchased, good quality Cat8 cables and with modern quick-release cables this shouldn't normally be a problem, but the placement of the ridge just doesn't allow a firm or easy grip on the release snip with fat fingers. A flat-bladed screwdriver placed at an angle to gently lever the release snip upwards using the ridge as a fulcrum usually resolves the issue.

Overall then, and at the price this router has been available lately, it appears to be a genuine value buy and captures some of the best new technology into the bargain. Excellent product for all users with plenty of potential for the techically gifted.

Workng very well on the 160MHz band for more than 6 weeks now at full speed. Never misses a beat. Signal is very strong and reliable within a single room but obviously available on different levels of a multi-storey dwelling across multiple barriers. Biuld actually more robust than first thought. It would be disingenuous to claim this router is anything but a top quality product providing the latest technology at a reasonable price. Very highly recommended.

I'm not a gamer, but I got this because I work from home. It was fairly easy to set-up. UI/set-up seemed to have a small glitch, but was overcome easily. Quite possibly my fault too. Once set-up it seems to perform seamlessly, and much better than any telco router or cheaper ones. In our household we only have two people, but lots of technology. So this deals with about 16 connected devices at any time and I've not noticed any issues. the monitoring app you get (and I have on my phone) shows the system is using about 50% of it's RAM resources and very low CPU - so it's probably the right model for me. I have way less time-out issues since I've installed this. My home automation devices respond heaps quicker than before (probably twice as fast). Also no blackspots in our unit (which the previous router couldn't handle properly.) So, while it's probably 3x more than I've ever paid for a router before, I would do it again. It just effortlessly deals with anything I give it, and has reduced the lag from my WIFI connected devices (5x home speakers, phones, iPads, computers, TV and the other connected devices...) . I'm a happy user.

I wanted to get a new router as my Optus model is very basic and getting a Wifi 6 compatible router will give compatibility with my newer iPhones. The TUF edition was the same price as the normal model and includes a number of extra features for gamers. Setup was really easy and I can even plug in my Optus modem to a LAN socket to get the telephone line working with no setup required. Wifi reception is substantially better and the parental controls and security features are a lot better.

Aside from the ridiculous power plug, it's an excellent router.

The good:
works as you'd expect, set up process is straightforward simple, combined 2.4GHz + 5GHz single network is far better than running two separate APs. WiFi 6 is picked up well on phones/laptops made in the last couple of years so it's nice to be able to see the faster speeds.

Guest network feature works really well and it allows separation of old or uncontrolled devices like smart TV, work laptop, old laptop that won't do WPA3 - basically things you'd rather not share your home network with, just give them Internet and nothing else. Having effectively 4 guest networks is a feature I didn't know I wanted.

The okay: the Alexa and mesh and other features make no difference in the typical usage - great if you can use them perhaps.

The odd: forcing HTTPS for admin page is just odd... it's good in a sense but if you are worried about being snooped on in your home network there are probably bigger issues. Encouraging users to click through the certificate error is a little awkward. On the balance, this is better overall.

The bad: the power plug is terrible. Why did they decide to use a "dog eared" power plug is beyond me, there are just two useless plastic "ears" on the power plug that take up space and make it impossible to plug any other devices adjacent to the plug into the same power strip. Considering that anyone who buys this will have an NTD/NTU from the upstream provider, using a power strip is practically expected. So you have a decent router but you end up needing to get out a saw and file to grind off the extra junk off the power plug before you can use it - not a good start. If you try to re-use a power adapter from an older Asus router that's even worse as the older power bricks do not supply quite enough power so everything seems to work fine but 5Ghz WiFi just won't activate and nothing will tell you why until you have an epiphany that it's an electrical issue - so, use the new plug and grind it down or use an extension cord or waste 2-3 sockets on a power strip.

Initially my router was rebooting itself randomly but I couldn't notice this behaviour as I was spending most of the time in the office.

And when I noticed this issue, the router was out of the return period.

Then I updated the stock firmware yet the rebooting issue couldn't be resolved.
Then I went through the online forums and replaced the stock firmware with Asus Merlin Firmware in hope of eliminating the ongoing random reboot issue but all went in vein again.

Finally, I got an ota update for the inbuilt Trend Micro web protection and boom 💥.

The moment my router updated its web protection the random reboot issue got resolved permanently. It's been more than a week but the router hasn't rebooted itself even once during this period.

Now come to the main point ☝️.

I give it 4/5 🌟.

And here is my experience in form of Q&A.

Q. Who needs to buy this router?
And. Those, who want better wireless upload speed can go for it blindfolded. My TPlink Archer C80 (Gbps Router) was giving only 50 to 60 Mbps wirelessly whereas it gave me 200/200 Mbps without any issue.

If someone's internet speed is not more than 300Mbps then he/she will not be able to utilise this machine to its full potential. Better go for cheaper options.

Those who need better security can pick it without any other thought. As it is providing lifetime free web protection whereas other manufacturers are providing such level of security on subscription basis.

The 5Ghz signal range is better than my C80.

Q. Why deducted 1 🌟?
And. Over 2.4 GHz band it's full bandwidth is 96Mbps which is below average. I was expecting 300 Mbps minimum.

I'll keep updating the performance of this router time to time in future. I'll upgrade my existing internet speed from 200 Mbps to 1000Gbps in July 2023 and then I'll again share my feedback. Thanks.

Excellent upgrade from my Netgear R7000. My old router was hanging every other day after I bought PS5. I simply removed old router and placed new one in its place. Excellent improvement in speed. I have 300mbps connection but I was getting around 220 on Wi-Fi. With new router I am getting 280+.
ASUS App is also very nice. I could setup the router in minutes. Netgear app was not that great or easy.

Asus router are really bad for long time.
If you are going to use for 6 to 7 months then it's ok. Else go for TP-Link.

I am writing this review after using two Asus routers first rt 3000 then this one both started dropping internet connection for a minute randomly every few hours. Intially both worked amazingly but after 6 months of usage it started feeling laggy now connection drops.

Send one rt 3000 for RMA. But looking forward to buy TP-Link as my earlier TP-Link router keep working well even after 5 years of usage without any issues ever.
