12 / 24V Compatible

HK3 ACC Hardwire kits connects the camera directly to the car, truck, bus, SUVs, or big rig for continuous power, accepts voltage from any type of vehicles runs on 12 – 24V.

How To Install Hardwire kit

1. Confirm Your Fuse Tap

2. Identify ACC & Battery Signal

3. Locate a Ground point

 4. Connect Vehicle Electrical System On The Interior Fuse

1. Confirm Your Fuse Tap

Fuse boxes and fuse types vary not only from car to car, but also from year and model. Check your car manual to find the fuse box location and confirm the fuse type. Usually there are 4 kinds fuse adapters, micro2, mini, LP-mini and ATO, you need to confirm which one is suitable for your vehicle. (Note: fuse tap is not included in the package)

2. Identify ACC & Battery Signal

1. To confirm Battery signal, Ignition Switch position must be in lock position. Look for a fuse that reacts when the engine is off. The constant power supply is a fuse that allows electricity to flow even when the engine is off, so you can find it by applying a tester when the engine is off. Place the tip of the tester on the exposed metal part of the fuse.

2. To confirm ACC signal, Ignition Switch position must be in ACC position. You should get voltage light up on circuit tester. Reconfirm the fuse slot again with Ignition Switch position in Lock position and recheck the fuse slot using circuit tester. You should not get any voltage reading on your circuit tester not light up during Ignition Switch in Lock position.

3. Locate a Ground point

To confirm ground point, use circuit tester to check continuity mode. Find any screw direct tighten to vehicle body and measured the screw point against the vehicle body. A good ground point must get continuity reading at < 0.1 ohm.

4. Connect Vehicle Electrical System On The Interior Fuse

1. Use an Add-A-Fuse Kit for a Cleaner Installation. Once the fuse slot required for the hardwire kit is determined, the hardwire kit can be crimped to the additional fuse kit. You should be able to crimp the fuse kit using standard needle nose pliers.

2. Yellow (ACC) Power supply - Connect to a power supply that can be turned on / off with the engine. Red (Battery) Always power - Do not turn on / off with the engine, the vehicle side where voltage is always applied. Connect to the power supply after passing through the fuse. Black (Ground) - Unscrew the ground point and wrap the Ground wire around. Bolt down to secure.

ACC and Battery wires labelled incorrectly from factory
The wiring was labelled incorrectly from the factory which caused no end of headaches when installing. (A129 duo).Managed to work it out in the end but ended up being quite expensive as I paid an auto electrician for the install and he couldn't work out the issue and spent an extra hour fiddling around unecessarily.

After using this product, I can confidently say it exists. It's like the Switzerland of products—neutral, unassuming, and doesn't take any risks. It didn't blow my socks off, but it also didn't make me question the meaning of life. It's like that friend who always shows up to parties but never really stands out. It's a master of camouflage in the realm of functionality. If you're looking for something to blend seamlessly into the background of your life, congratulations, you've found it. This product won't make you jump for joy or throw a fit of rage. It just... is. And as for how much I enjoy writing reviews for products when forced to by websites... Well, let's just say it's as thrilling as watching paint dry or listening to elevator music on repeat. Ah, the joys of fulfilling arbitrary obligations!

Install was straightforward enough, but the ground terminal fell away from the wire while installing, seems to snap with barely any pressure applied. Was able to crimp a new terminal on and all is well, but I would suggest being very gentle with it.

This hardwire kit was exactly as advertised, install was easy. Cable lengths more than sufficient. I installed it in my Subaru Levorg Wagon. Make sure you purchase a couple of Fuse Taps around the same time as these are needed for install (unless you are an Auto Elec). Makes installation quick and easy. The product works as described and operates the Parking Modes seamlessly. Highly recommend this product, totally hidden unlike the 12v adapter cable.

After reading some of the recent negative reviews, I was pretty hesitant to buy this power cable to hook up a Viofo A129 Plus. There's so much variation of vehicles, fuse blocks, people's abilities, and the manufacturing ability of Viofo, I couldn't tell what was true and what was fiction. So, atleast for me, the install went pretty smoothly. The camera was installed into a FJ Cruiser which has a pretty generous interior fuse block with lots of open circuits where using an add-a-circuit is the easiest option. It would have been nice if Viofo included some add-a-circuits, but I had some around from other projects so it wasn't an added cost (but they're pretty cheap).

I read where some people had cables where the red and yellow were flipped, but for me, the Red was Constant 12V and the Yellow was switched 12V as labeled. Everything was wired up and the camera powered up right away.

Some notes:
1) From what I understand, the camera will never pull power from the Yellow (ACC) line. That line is just looking for a 12V signal as a trigger to tell the camera to turn on or off. Once that signal is received the camera is being powered only by the red wire.
2) The round ferrite filter near the tip of the usb connection makes it difficult to hide that part of the wire under the headliner. I tried to do that, but then there was a noticeable bulge in the headliner and I didn't want to risk that added strain to cause the headliner to separate during the hot and humid Houston summers. I got the wire in front and behind the filter tucked under the headliner, and everything's staying in place and the filter that sticks out from under the headliner doesn't bother me at all, but to each his or her own.
3) Make sure, if you're using add-a-circuits, that you got the right orientation of how the fuse taps go in. If the tap is backwards, depending on whether or not you're using the secondary fuse, you may or may not get power. If you do get power, it may fry your fuses, or worse.
4) My battery is close to needing to be replaced so I haven't tested the cutoff features nor parking mode yet so I can't speak to whether or not the cable is working as designed for that function.

So overall, the cable seems to be of quality and is working just fine. It powers the camera when the car starts and immediately turns it off when the car is shut down. Hopefully it lasts...that seems to be another somewhat frequent complaint in some reviews, but atleast for now, it seems like a good cable.

What you get in this kit is a 3-wire kit that replaces the USB lead that came with your Viofo dash-cam. There are a couple of benefits to installing this kit: The first one is that it allows you to use "Parking Mode" which will record footage when your car is not running. Parking mode can be tailored to suit your needs, but is really the headline feature of this kit. The other benefit is that it frees up a USB socket in your car. As I was using the "smart" USB socket in my car which was powered by the ignition switch, this was actually quite a bonus for me.

The kit itself is reasonably well-made, and seems to offer decent value for money, however it needs another purchase to be useable. Only one of the ends of the wires is terminated with a connector you can use on your car. The other two wires are simply left bare, and will require attaching to your car by wither a wire-tap connector or, and this is the better option for most people as far as I'm concerned, via a piggyback fuse holder which is non-invasive and relatively easy to fit. You can buy the Viofo one, "VIOFO 4PCS Circuit Fuse Tap ATO, Mini, Micro2, Mini Low Profile Adapter Holder" or you can buy a cheaper option. (I went for the cheaper option because I knew exactly what I wanted.)

Further to that, you need a crimp tool, to close the crimp on the piggyback fuse onto the hardwire kit wire. So the hardwire kit cost can mount up, if you don't have the tools and parts you need.

After you've got everything you need, the kit itself is fairly straightforward to install, but it usually involves removing bits of car trim to tuck away the wires neatly, and also you'll need to know which part of your car's electrics you're going to connect to. You'll need a permanent 12v, a switched 12v, and a ground. This allows the unit to be powered at all times, and also to detect when to switch parking mode on. (You should have a diagram of the car's fusebox in the owner's manual, which will give you an idea which fuses to tap into. I used my 12v socket which is permanently on, and my rear wiper, which is switched. The ground I simply loosened a bolt a little and added the ground tap underneath it.

This is quite a clever unit in that it has a voltage detector, so when your car battery voltage drops below a preset level (that you set yourself), the camera switches itself off completely to save your car battery. I've set mine to 11.8, but you can set the voltage to a higher voltage. (Might be a good idea in winter, when your car battery needs all the help it can get.)

Once installed, it works well, but buying Viofo can feel a bit like using a budget airline: You buy the dash-cam, but then to get all the benefits of the dash-cam, you need to pay out more to buy more stuff. (The cost of the polarising filters seem extortionate, for example.) But if you want to use parking mode on your Viofo dash-cam, you don't really have an easier option than this kit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ottimo cavo per abilitare la modalità parcheggio
