This is a very strong, stable truing stand. It doesn't have gauges that more expensive stands have, but really, you don't need them--not even the pros need them. What this stand provides is stability, and can handle almost any wheel size, up to 29". It is as simple as it is practical. Place the rim on the stand, align the left truing arm to the rim, and spin the wheel. Move the arm in or out until it is almost, but not quite, touching, and work from there. You will see that the truing arm piece that touches the rim is like an "L", with the bottom of the "L" to be placed under the rim's edge, to check for roundness. I suggest you make one modification to this truing arm, for easier and more precise operation. On the opposite end is a metal flap. Drill a hole in the flap (an ordinary drill bit can drill through this steel), put a couple of bolts on either side, and a round head screw through them. Now, turn the arm 180 degrees so that this side faces the rim. Use this for the rim side truing, where you can turn the screw in or out in very small increments, and get a perfectly trim wheel. That's all anyone needs, amateur and pro alike.
