Product description
From the Inside Flap
In "How I Got My Wiggle Back," Anthony, the "blue Wiggle," reveals for the first time that as he and his group soared to fame and fortune, he was locked in a downward spiral that nearly ended his career. Anthony tells the story of the years he spent suffering from joint pain, multiple allergies, chronic headaches, and clinical depression. In this book, he also talks about his remarkable recovery and the simple techniques that can help anyone suffering with similar problems to regain their health.
Anthony Field has always been dedicated to The Wiggles and their mission to engage and inspire young children with music and entertainment. In "How I Got My Wiggle Back," Anthony reminisces about the band's early years and his life from childhood to adulthood. He introduces his fellow Wiggles and recounts their leap from Australia to becoming world-class superstars. For fans, he describes in detail how the group develops its shows, the different roles each of its members plays, and the excitement of making children and their parents an integral part of every show.
Anthony's story of how he beat the mysterious illnesses that threatened to end his career is both inspiring and instructive. He tells the riveting story of how two wonderful doctors isolated the root cause of many of Anthony's physical problems and set him on the road to recovery; he also provides a prescriptive self-care health program of exercise advice and nutritional information with practical action steps to relieve pain and prevent and heal disease.
Filled with more than seventy-five photographs of Anthony and his fellow Wiggles from their early days through the present, and including photos of the fitness regime that now keeps Anthony at the peak of health, "How I Got My Wiggle Back" takes you backstage and beyond to experience the joy, pain, and ultimate triumph of a global superstar at the top of his game.
From the Back Cover
"Anthony Field's success in children's entertainment proves that he is an extraordinarily talented and creative man. "How I Got My Wiggle Back," his memoir, reveals that Field is also remarkably generous, sparing no detail of his battle with illness in order to demonstrate the power of the uncommon therapy that healed him literally from head to toe. The astonishing modalities he describes that until now have been reserved for an elite few will transform your view of the human body and the healing process."
--Antonia Felix, "New York Times" bestselling author of "Sonia Sotomayor: The True American Dream"
"Anthony Field's journey is the stuff of heroes. He is the quintessence of noble tenacity and bright intellect, capable of pursuing every possible avenue of relief and balance."

Anthony Field recounts his days leading up to forming The Wiggles - including tales of his '80s pop/punky/new wavey The Cockroaches ... yes! He had something of another career before "turning blue'!
Speaking of "blue," he reveals a lifetime battle with depression - something that even the most ardent fans wouldn't know about. What major fans do know is that Anthony has gone battled injuries with his back, teeth, etc. as he has had to miss a few shows here and there through the years. Hold those thoughts for a moment.
Also included are recollections about The Wiggles' nearly ten-year run as kiddie kings in Oz before gloing global and rocking the States in a way that hasn't really happened before or since in children's entertainment. The Wiggles are incredibly unique - they are fun first, educational second, and never, ever, preachy. They're not hipsters, who off stage think they're too cool to do what they're doing - The Wiggles are simply real, cool, and Anthony's tales and anecdotes bear that out.
The second half of the book talks about how Anthony turned around some major aspects of his life. His savior? Plyometrics. After seeing doctors around the world, trying medications, and more, he finally comes across a doctor Stoxen in Chicago. Stoxen determines that Anthony's "human spring" is locked, and the book devotes itself to Stoxen's treatments seeing Anthony through to a state of good health like he's never had in his life.
Half memoir, half self-help text, this book is unique in its "field" (pardon the pun) and again, as a children's entertainer, I can totally relate to sustaining injury (and believe in the "locked spring" idea - I strive to keep me unlocked). I also relate (and so can anyone) to Anthony's revelations that The Wiggles have done their best to keep business affairs in house as much as possible, against the odds. Tales abound in this tome of shady companies not believing in a concept that has gone on to be one of the most successful ever. Take that, stodgy industry!
How you handle life and its challenges is really the overall theme of this book. It's entertaining, insightful, and possibly inspirational.
