An already great movie perfectly reheated
I already owned this movie on DVD then as a Blu-ray from years back. Now it has been remastered and comes with a bonus second disk with loads of extra features. This was the first time two of our greatest living actors had come together and the results are stunning. The supporting cast is also superb. The remastering has been supervised personally by the director, Michael Mann. He features in the second disk during extended film festival & Academy Q&A sessions, a boon for all students of film, and in addition a "Making of…" documentary. The soundtrack has come in for attention & a boost. The climactic scene at LAX Airport will have your subwoofer working overtime and your house shaking.

EDIZIONE A 3 DISCHI. Il primo disco Blu-Ray 4K UHD contiene la traccia italiana in Dolby 2.0 e anche i sottotitoli in italiano. VIDEO: 8/10. Al di sotto delle aspettative: trasferimento difficile in 4K del capolavoro di Michael Mann, un vero peccato. Come di recente si osserva spesso, soprattutto nei rifacimenti in 4K di film ventennali, la tendenza ad aumentare il contrasto mette in seria difficoltà la fruizione delle scene in ombra o notturne, specie in questo film. L’ottima resa del tridimensionale, ad esempio, soccombe per la debolissima leggibilità di alcune scene d’interni: emblematica per criticità, in questa edizione, l’epica e ormai celeberrima scena madre del face to face Pacino vs. De Niro, affetta da un progressivo calo di luminosità, in partenza già piuttosto bassa, che sul finire diviene sempre più buia. Anche le scene in piena luce sono appesantite da una tonalità generalmente cupa, che non rende giustizia alla splendida fotografia di Dante Spinotti, né alle potenzialità del formato 4K. AUDIO: 8/10. La traccia italiana in Dolby 2.0 è talvolta affetta da leggere distorsioni, percepibili sotto forma di asprezza d’ascolto (resa del parlato stridula o vagamente metallica).
2. “HEAT” BLU-RAY DIRECTOR’S DEFINITIVE EDITION 2017 TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX
EDIZIONE INGLESE A 2 DISCHI. Non è presente la lingua italiana, né i sottotitoli in italiano.
VIDEO: 10/10. Edizione davvero eccellente. La resa video è perfetta, equilibrata e piacevole. Le scene scure, d’interni e notturne mantengono un’ottima leggibilità, non rinunciando alla suggestione dei toni scuri, fondamentali per lo stile “noir” di Michael Mann. La superiorità del 4K nella resa tridimensionale è restituita in maniera analoga e comunque efficace anche da questo “normale” disco Blu-Ray. Le scene in esterni in piena luce sono splendenti (al contrario di ciò che si osserva nell’edizione in 4K, dove sono invece appesantite da tonalità eccessivamente cupe); così come splendente è il luccichio delle scene notturne cittadine.
AUDIO: voto 9,5/10. L’audio in inglese 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio è eccellente. Attenzione alla calibratura del canale centrale, il volume dei dialoghi a volte è troppo basso.

EDIZIONE ITALIANA A 1 DISCO. L’audio è disponibile solo in tre versioni: Italiano DTS HD Master Audio 5.1; Italiano DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 con sottotitoli in italiano per non udenti e Inglese Originale Dolby Digital 5.1 con sottotitoli in italiano per non udenti. Non sono presenti altre lingue, né sottotitoli in altre lingue. VIDEO: 10/10. Eccellente lavoro di CG Entertainment! La resa video è stupenda, non dissimile da quella dell’edizione inglese: piacevole e ben definita, magnifica nella resa del tridimensionale, perfetta sia nella leggibilità delle scene buie/d’interni/notturne, sia nell’assoluto rispetto delle tonalità da film “noir” volute da Michael Mann. AUDIO: 10 e lode. A differenza dell’edizione in 4K, in cui la traccia italiana è senza dubbio buona ma con qualche imperfezione della resa sonora, l’audio in italiano DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 qui proposto valorizza pienamente il meraviglioso e monumentale lavoro dei grandi Doppiatori italiani (Giancarlo Giannini e Ferruccio Amendola su tutti).
