個人的には、転校した高校で代理教師のふりをするところと、トムハンクスに踏み込まれて別の捜査官の降りをするところが大好き。僕にはこんな生き方は無理だけど、アドレナリンが出っぱなしになるんだろうなあ。

トム・ハンクスとの友情もあたたかい。

司法試験に二週間で合格するぐらいの頭脳の持ち主なのに、あんな家に生まれてしまったからその才能を活かすことができなかった。これは個人の責任だけでもないと思う。

私的には、逮捕されてからが、非常に興味深いんですよね。
罪を犯した人間でも、しっかりセカンドチャンスが与えられているのが、アメリカらしいし、
いつの間にか、長い戦いを繰り広げた二人だけに、確かな友情が芽生えているのも、面白い。
アメリカってイイな、と思える作品ですね。

実話を基にしておりますが、映画として構成されているので実際の人物の軌跡とは少し違います。

昔見たことがあった映画で、たしか哀しい過去を持つ男が泥棒になって捜査官と追いかけっこしてラストはハッピーエンドなコメディ映画だったよねと再視聴。
記憶とはあてにならないもので、全然違いました。
それとも年を重ねたことで受け取り方が変わったのでしょうか。

フランクの鮮やかな手口や詐欺の手法、ベテランFBI捜査官が未成年に翻弄される追いかけっこ、そして捜査官・カールとの間に芽生えた友情？父性？が魅力な本作。
しかし再視聴した今回、婚約破棄されたブレンダがあまりにも可哀想でスッキリした後味とは言えませんでした。

中絶の経験――頭が足りなそうだから男に都合よく使われたのだろうか…――で両親と軋轢があった彼女。
フランクとの婚約で家族愛が戻ったのにあのような形で婚約破棄されてしまい、彼女や両親の心中を想うと最悪で罪な男だなと。
後日の空港で彼女は囮になっていたので彼への想いは断ち切ったのでしょうが、後味が悪かったです。
フランクの嗅覚が優れている証明ですが出てくる若い女性が軒並みチョロくって、得したのはワンナイトラブで100ドル稼いだボンドガールくらいでは。

職業や制服が与えるハロー効果の大きさが分かる映画で、フランクは司法試験に受かる実力もあるからコツコツ頑張ればいいのに…と思ってしまいますが、大金に化ける紙切れや着るだけでステータスになる制服の味を知ってしまうと戻れないのでしょう。
まだまだ未成年だしね…、ブレンダに愛を誓ったりとか節々で青さが見える主人公です。
現代から見るとおおらかな時代ですが、今のセキュリティはフランクのような犯罪の解明によって強固されてきたんだなと思える映画でもありました。
