すごく有名なミステリー小説であることを知ってから読んだので、期待して読み始めたのですが、期待を裏切らない内容でとても楽しく読むことができました。
巧妙なトリックや特徴ある人物の描写、犯人が誰か知りたいと思う気持ちからすぐに続きを読みたい衝動に駆られ、あっという間に読み終わりました。

観る前に読んでいただきたい本
35年前にノベルズで初めて読んだ時は、内容にグイグイ惹かれて寝るのも忘れて一気読み。気がついたら午前2時。面白さに感動し、また忍びよる恐怖に震えてしまいました。その夜は電気を付けて寝ました。勿論、わざと明るくして寝たのはその時だけです。氏の館シリーズは全部読みましたが、このデビュー作がダントツです。クリスティの有名な作品に似ておりますが私は、この作品のインパクトの方が強烈です。当時、乱歩賞か何かの賞に応募されたとのお話でしたが人間が書けてないとの理由で落選したと記憶に残ってます。しかし登場人物はしっかり書けており感情移入もできました。氏はこの本で大きな賞を取られておりませんが最高傑作なのは出版部数が証明してますね。2017年には限定装丁本も出版されました。縁あって都内で開催された発表会に参加する事が出来ました。普段ミステリーをあまり読まない方にも是非この本は読んで欲しい本です。本を読まない方は是非実写版を観てください。内容はうらぎりません。
